Last night, our Miss Chinatown Houston, Miss Joy Le took double titles! She
won both "Miss Talent" and "Second Princess" at the Miss Chinatown USA
Pageant. This is the first time the San Francisco Chinese Chamber of
Commerce (sponsor of the pageant) has allowed one contestant to win both
titles! Her talent was a Chinese fan dance displaying her beautiful
technique and artistry. Joy was the top winner outside the San Francisco
Bay area.
The results:
Miss Chinatown USA: June Quan (23) - San Francisco, CA
Miss Chinese Chamber of Commerce: Casey Him (25) - Walnut Creek, CA
(Miss San Francisco Chinatown for Bay area contestants only): Lisa Fei (20)
- Berkley, CA
Second Princess: Joy Le (19) - Bellaire, TX
Third Princess: Cynthia Vuong (23) - Bellevue, WA
Fourth Princess: Anita Wong (21) - San Francisco, CA
Miss Talent: Joy Le
Joy wins many gifts and prizes including $2000.00 for Second Princess, and
$1000.00 for Miss Talent. Joy is a freshman at Northwestern University in
Chicago. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan (Gloria Guo) Le.
On Thursday, the CACA San Francisco Lodge will be hosting a luncheon at Four
Seas Restaurant honoring the Miss Chinatown USA contestants, and Joy as a
special honoree. SF Lodge is always so welcoming and generous to our
Houston representatives. Next Friday is the Coronation Ball, followed by
the Chinese New Year Parade on Saturday.
I know you will want to join me in congratulating Joy - and her parents, and
thanking her for doing such an outstanding job representing us at the
pageant. We wish her the best and hope the remainder of her stay will be
filled wonderful experiences and friendships made!
Best,
Linda Wu
