Compensation:           $20,000’s (commensurate with experience)

ABOUT THE ASIAN AMERICAN FAMILY SERVICES (AAFS)

AAFS is a community-based mental health agency and provides bilingual and culturally appropriate services for the Asian American community in the greater Houston area.  Among AAFS’ core services, are: 1) the provision of individual counseling and therapy, 2) family counseling and therapy, 3) an innovative educational youth development program, 4) substance abuse prevention program, 5) an early intervention program for Asian seniors, 6) a substance abuse prevention program, 7) family support services including a “Pathfinders” project and legal consultation, 8) parenting classes, as well as, 9) information and/or referral for other support services including interpreting and translation services.  In addition, AAFS’ education and training programs include training and supervision of student interns; seminars and workshops offered to the general public and to mental health professionals. 

Primary Responsibilities:

-Provide case management services by identifying and addressing client’s specific needs

-Complete screening and intake assessment of mental health cases

-Maintain documentation in client file according to policy and procedure

-Maintain confidentiality of client files according to policy and procedures

-Participate in case management staff meetings

-Provide accurate information and referral services

-Develop and enhance relationships with community organizations

-Attend meetings and agency activities/events as required

-Participates in outreach activities

-Provide translation and interpretation services

-Transport clients as needed

-Data entry and prepare reports as needed

-Answer phones

Qualifications:

-Minimum high school level education

-Experience in a social services environment desired

-Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English

-Must be a team player and have organizational skills

-Must possess decision making and problem solving skills

-Must have the ability to speak and write either Vietnamese or Chinese

-Must be computer literate in word processing and data base applications
